Shalina Chatlani is a seasoned health journalist currently serving as a health reporter for States Newsroom since March 2024. Previously, Shalina was a local investigations fellow at The New York Times, contributing to a significant year-long investigation into the healthcare company Centene. Shalina's background includes roles as a regional healthcare reporter for Gulf States Newsroom, a science and technology reporter for KPBS, and an Emerging Voices fellow at Nashville Public Radio, among others. Shalina began a career in journalism at Industry Dive, advancing from intern to associate editor, and has diverse reporting experience from organizations such as The Rio Times and Mississippi Public Broadcasting. Shalina holds a Master’s Degree in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University and has additional academic credentials in Science, Technology, and International Affairs, as well as a certificate in Women in Leadership from Cornell University.
