Ngarongoa Totoro

Ngarongoa Totoro is an experienced professional with a strong background in strategic engagement and Māori partnerships. Currently serving as Principal Advisor at Stats NZ, Ngarongoa has held various critical roles including Kaitiaki Partnerships Lead and Operations Manager for the 2023 Census. Previously, Ngarongoa worked at Statistics New Zealand - Christchurch as National Manager Field Operations and Senior Advisor Te Ao Māori, and held a Senior Policy Advisor position at The Office of Māori Crown Relations (Te Arawhiti). Experience also includes significant roles at Te Puni Kōkiri, The Treasury, and Land Information New Zealand, where responsibilities spanned from implementing Māori strategies to negotiating Treaty settlements. Ngarongoa's career in the public sector is complemented by a background in restorative justice and mediation, showcasing a commitment to community engagement and effective stakeholder relationships.
