Ruth Jones Turner

Ruth Jones Turner is an experienced communications and strategic planning professional. Currently serving as the Director of Strategic Planning & Partnerships for Staunton City Schools since September 2020, Ruth collaborates with school board members and division leaders to create long-term comprehensive plans while providing strategic advice during critical situations. Prior to this role, Ruth worked as the Communications Manager for the City of Staunton, Virginia, where responsibilities included developing communication strategies and serving as a city spokesperson. Previous experience also includes positions as Director of Communications and Public Relations Officer at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, as well as freelance writing for various magazines and newspapers. Ruth began their career at Gannett Newspapers as a reporter, covering diverse topics under tight deadlines. Ruth holds a B.S. in Communication Studies from Bridgewater College.
