Tim O. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of information security and technology. Starting in 1994, they served as the CIO and CISO at Xero Equipment. In 2022, they joined PayPal as the Head of Information Security. Prior to that, they worked as the Chief Information Security Officer at Stay At Home Docs in 2021. Tim O. also became a member of the Information Security Leadership Foundation in 2020 and served as a Member of the Board of Advisors at Adaptable Security starting in 2017. From 2016 to 2019, they held the position of VP of Information Security, Compliance, and Privacy at HealthTap. Additionally, they served as the Director of Security Operations & Defensive Technologies at Trace3 from 2016 to 2019. 🍀 Tim also worked as the Senior Manager of Security Operations at Gigamon in 2016 and as the Director of Threat Research at Palerra from 2015 to 2016. Tim O. has contributed to the industry through their roles as the Advisory Board Chairperson and President of ISC2 Silicon Valley Chapter, starting in 2018 and 2016 respectively.

Tim O. has a diverse education history spanning multiple fields of study. 🍀 Tim started their education at the Community College of the Air Force from 1988 to 1997, where they obtained an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Airport Management. Following this, from 1995 to 1999, they attended Metropolitan Community College and earned another AAS degree, this time in Networking & Computer Programming.

In 1998, Tim O. enrolled at Bellevue University and pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Management of Information Systems, completing their studies in 1999.

Tim O. has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. In 2003, they acquired the National Security Agency's NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) certification. In 2005, they obtained the Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) from the SANS Institute. Furthermore, Tim O. holds several certifications from Tenable, including Tenable Certified Pre-Sales Integrator-IO (TCPSI-IO) in 2019, Tenable Certified Pre-Sales Architect (TCPA) in 2017, Tenable Certified Pre-Sales Engineer (TCPE) in 2017, and Tenable Certified Pre-Sales Integrator (TCPI) in 2017.

In addition to these certifications, Tim O. has achieved further professional recognition. In 2007, they became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)². More recently, in 2022, they earned the HIPAA Certificate from Accountable HQ and the CCSB (Certified CyberSecurity Burnout) credential from the Cult of the Dead Cow organization.
