Gene Wu

Gene Wu, PhD, is an experienced technology consultant currently serving as an Independent Technology Consultant for a Stealth Mode AI Startup since November 2023. Previously, Gene held the position of Chief Technology Officer at WATI from April 2022 to November 2023 and SmartRetail from May 2020 to April 2022. At DemystData from 2012 to May 2020, Gene progressed from Founding Data Scientist and Software Engineer to Senior Director/Head of Client Data Engineering, overseeing various roles that involved client data engineering and data connectivity. Gene's early experience includes roles as a Data Mining Researcher at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and various visiting research positions that contributed to advancements in data mining algorithms and technologies. Gene’s educational background encompasses a PhD and MPhil in Data Mining and Pattern Discovery, alongside a BA and BSc in Management and Computing from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and studies in Mathematics for Engineers from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
