Andrew Dayton

Co-Founder / CEO at Steel Wool Studios

Andrew Dayton started their career in 1999 as a freelancer at Hurd Studios. Andrew then worked as a TD at Curious Pictures before becoming a CG Artist at various companies in NYC. From 2000 to 2002, they served as a Technical Director/CG Art Director at Tape House/Black Logic, where they worked on storyboards, concept designs, compositing, 3D modeling, shading, lighting, and special effects.

In 2002, they joined Pixar Animation as a Senior Technical Director, specializing in sets modeling and lighting. During their time at Pixar, they were awarded a technical patent for semi-sharp subdivision surface crease modulation.

In addition, Andrew has taught Bachelor Degree courses at various colleges, including the School of Visual Arts Computer Art, Parsons The New School for Design, California College of the Arts, and Expression College. Andrew has also delivered lectures and conducted workshops at the School of Visual Arts Computer Art MFA, Pratt Institute, and Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.

Most recently, Andrew co-founded Steel Wool Studios in 2012 and served as the CEO. Under their leadership, the studio developed and shipped successful games, including chapters in the Five Nights at Freddy's universe.

Andrew Dayton attended the School of Visual Arts from 1994 to 1998, where they pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Computer Art.
