Gwen Tran

Vice President - IT & Automation at STELCO

Gwen Tran has extensive work experience in the IT and automation field. Gwen began their career at Stelco as a Technical Analyst, responsible for IT infrastructure, EDI, and technical planning. Gwen later moved up to become a Supervisor, overseeing network infrastructure and providing support to end users. During their time at Stelco, Gwen led task forces and recommended IT solutions to meet business needs.

Gwen then joined United States Steel Corporation as a Process Manager, where they managed IT projects and maintenance support for business systems. Gwen was later promoted to Director of Global Plant Processes, leading a department of 60 employees and providing IT and automation support to multiple manufacturing plants.

Returning to Stelco, Gwen took on the role of Director of Plant Processes, leading the implementation of ERP and enterprise IT systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Office 365. Gwen successfully completed a two-year IT Transition and Transformation Program, integrating systems and migrating data.

Most recently, Gwen held the position of Vice President of IT & Automation at STELCO - The Steel Company of Canada. In this role, they provided strategic and operational planning for IT initiatives, fostering innovation and coordinating the implementation and management of current and future systems across the organization.

Throughout their career, Gwen has demonstrated leadership, vision, and a strong understanding of IT and automation within the steel manufacturing industry.

Gwen Tran attended Queen's University - Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering. In 2005, they also received their P. Eng certification from Professional Engineers Ontario.
