Ilhaam Groenewald

Ilhaam Groenewald serves as the Chief Director of Maties Sport at Stellenbosch University since August 2014, providing strategic leadership across four operational units and focusing on policy development, human resource development, and financial planning to create an inclusive environment. In addition to this role, Ilhaam Groenewald is a board member of SASCOC and was an Independent Executive Council Member for SA Rugby from June 2016 to June 2020, where responsibilities included chairing the Transformation and Constitutional Committees. Ilhaam Groenewald also held the presidency of University Sport South Africa from April 2017 to October 2019 and was the Director of Sport at the University of the Western Cape from July 2004 to July 2014, emphasizing strategic planning and athlete support. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Sport Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration, along with a National Higher Diploma in Business Administration.
