Maya Menon

Maya Menon is an experienced leader in community engagement and educational curriculum development, currently serving as the Director of Community Engagement at Step Up since March 2022, focusing on empowering girls and gender-expansive teens. Previously, Maya worked with Girls in the Game as an Emotional Health Curriculum Consultant, designing a curriculum for stress management and resilience, and with SMASH as an Identity Curriculum Consultant. Maya's early career includes significant roles at The Posse Foundation, where as Program Director, oversight of multiple college partnerships and recruitment of Posse scholars was undertaken, alongside work as a Senior Trainer. Experience also includes coordinating the Friends First Mentoring Program at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls and leading literacy initiatives as a Senior Corps Member with City Year Chicago. Maya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
