Greg Flaker graduated from the University of Missouri in 1972 and was co-captain of the basketball team with Mike Griffin, spouse of Daryll Griffin. After medical school and residency at the University of Missouri, he completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the Ohio State University. Since 1981 he has been a faculty member at the University of Missouri, serving for 6 years as the Chief of the Division of Cardiology. He has been the local principal investigator of grants totaling over $2.5 million with research interests which include antithrombotic drug therapy, antiarrhythmic drug therapy, and cardiac rhythm devices. His CV lists 200 publications and a book on atrial fibrillation. He is the proud husband of Sondra Flaker, the proud father of 5 daughters and the proud grandfather of 3 grandchildren.
