Washington Garcia is currently the Dean of the School of Music at Stetson University. Prior to their current position, they served as Special Assistant to the Sr. Vice Chancellor for Special Projects at the University of Nebraska at Omaha from December 2015 to July 2021. In this role, they were an ambassador for global engagement projects and initiatives. From January 2006 to December 2015, Garcia served as the Assistant Director of the School of Music at Texas State University. In this role, they were also an ambassador for global engagement projects and initiatives. Additionally, Garcia served as the Artistic Director of the Texas State International Concert Series from August 2014 to December 2015.
Garcia has also been involved with InterHarmony International Music Festival, The Peabody Preparatory of the Johns Hopkins University, Peabody Piano Week Festival, Maryland Conservatory of Music, and St. Ignatius Loyola Academy. Washington has served in various capacities at each institution, including piano instructor, music teacher, and faculty member.
Washington Garcia is a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music who specializes in piano performance. Washington received their Bachelor of Music from the National Conservatory of Music in Ecuador and their D.M.A and M.M. from The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
