Al Lewis has extensive experience in public service and emergency medical services, holding the position of Government Affairs Chairman at the Greater Corning Area Chamber of Commerce since January 2016. As a consultant and lobbyist for Rural/Metro Corporation since March 2001, Al also serves as the Steuben County Coroner, a role held since January 1976. Al was a critical care technician at the Corning Ambulance Service from October 1962 until retirement. In addition to serving as the Secretary of the Guthrie Corning Hospital Board and as a Trustee of Guthrie, Al holds a position as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Corning. Previously, Al was a founding board member and past president of the United New York Ambulance Network (UNYAN) from 1998 to 2013, advocating for proprietary ambulance companies. Al’s public service experience includes serving as the Mayor of the City of Corning from January 1999 to December 2005.
