Elise Birkett is an experienced educator and researcher with a focus on environmental and climate issues. Currently serving as a Community Teacher and Interim Associate 2nd Grade Teacher at Stevens Cooperative School and as a Hebrew and Jewish Studies Teacher at Fig Tree Program, Elise has also held research fellow positions at the National Wildlife Federation and the NYC Mayor's Office of Climate Resiliency. With a Master's degree in International Environmental Policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and dual Bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Environmental Science from New York University, Elise has engaged in various roles that include managing communications, policy research, and educational outreach. Previous experiences include tutoring, environmental research internships, and administrative roles, demonstrating a strong commitment to both education and sustainability.
