John Appels

John Appels has extensive experience in various roles primarily within the fields of sports and social work. Currently serving as Afgevaardigde regio Centrum and referee for Badminton Netherlands since May 2011, John oversees competitions and tournaments to ensure compliance with regulations. In addition, John holds the position of Wijkcoach jeugd and is a member of the Ondernemingsraad at Stichting Sociale Wijkteams Arnhem since November 2017. John's previous roles include mediator at Bureau Jeugdzorg Gelderland, where John developed methodologies for complex divorces, and gezinsvoogd at Jeugdbescherming Gelderland, guiding families under supervision. Education includes a Bachelor of Social Work from Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen and various training courses related to badminton, mediation, and trauma.
