Alex Mathews

Alex Mathews has over 18 years of experience in the renewable energy industry. From 2003 to 2008, they worked as a Business Development/Marketing Wind Development Consultant and Project Manager/Field Biologist at Ecology and Environment, Inc. Alex then moved on to Third Planet Windpower, LLC as a Wind Project Developer from 2008 to 2010. After that, they worked as a Wind/Solar Project Development Manager at Eurus Energy America Corporation from 2010 to 2013. From 2013 to 2022, they were a COO/CCO, Co-founder at Stonestep AG, where they designed and launched parametric flood insurance in Western Nepal, launched hospital cash, telemedicine, and accident insurance with a mobile money provider, and led a multi-year UK funded (FCDO) grant to launch microinsurance and telemedicine with a leading Telco. Alex is currently a Senior Development Manager, WECC at Apex Clean Energy, where they are leading large-scale wind and solar development projects in the Western US, with a proven track record in greenfield development, land acquisition, environmental permitting and public relations, interconnection and transmission management, and M&A.

Alex Mathews attended Cornell University from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management. Prior to that, they attended Princeton Day School.
