Bill Gillis is an Assistant Professor of Organismal Biology at SUNY College at Old Westbury since 2015 and a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stony Brook University since April 2010. Research in the lab of Gerald Thomsen has focused on characterizing novel components of key signaling pathways in the Xenopus embryo, particularly investigating Large GTPases and their role in gene induction through interactions with intracellular signaling components. Prior experience includes a Doctorate Student position at the University of Oregon's Institute of Molecular Biology from 2003 to 2009 and an Undergraduate Researcher role at the University of Delaware from 2001 to 2003, focusing on viral oncogenesis and bioinformatics. Bill Gillis holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Oregon and a B.S. with Honors in Animal Science, Biotechnology, and Computer Science from the University of Delaware. Additional training includes participation in the Wood Hole MBL Embryology course in 2006.
