Kate O'Brien

Kate O'Brien is a seasoned communications and advancement professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as Chief of Staff and Assistant Vice President for Advancement at Stony Brook University since February 2020, O'Brien provides strategic direction for change management initiatives and project management. Previous positions include Director of Executive Operations for Advancement and Senior Development Writer at Stony Brook University, as well as Director of Marketing and Communications at Harbor Country Day School. O'Brien has held significant roles in corporate communications and media relations at various organizations including O'Brien Communications, Inc., Bowne, NYU Langone Medical Center, and Syska Hennessy Group. O'Brien earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Michigan State University.
