Joe Abernethy

Joe Abernethy is a financial professional with extensive experience in various accounting and financial roles. Currently serving as Financial Director at Story Plant Limited since February 2022, Joe previously held the position of Financial Controller at Genesis Homes, where responsibilities included the implementation and management of financial systems and the preparation of monthly management accounts. Prior to that, Joe worked as Company Accountant at Top Notch Contractors Limited, overseeing accounting data and liaising with external auditors. Experience also includes a role as Group Financial Accountant at THE EDINBURGH WOOLLEN MILL (GROUP) LIMITED, focusing on consolidated and statutory accounts preparation, and an early career as a Trainee Chartered Accountant at Saint & Co, where audit engagements were planned and executed. Joe holds a degree in Marketing and Management from Newcastle University Business School and completed training as a Chartered Accountant with ICAEW.
