Laura Spencer

Laura Spencer is a seasoned writer and editor with extensive experience in audio production and journalism. Currently serving as a Writer/Editor at Kansas City Public Library and as a freelance producer with StoryCorps, Laura has a proven track record of creating and editing interview-driven audio stories for mission-aligned partners. Previous roles include Producer for Slate Magazine's podcast "What Next," where Laura successfully booked and prepped the highly downloaded episode "Mass Shooter Database." With a history at KCUR 89.3 as an Arts Reporter and various other positions in audio content creation and podcast production, Laura's expertise encompasses a wide range of subjects from arts and culture to science and entrepreneurship. Laura holds a B.A. in English and Women's Studies from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Communication Studies with a focus on Urban Journalism from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
