Shira Engel currently serves as the Director of Education at Storyshares, where responsibilities include overseeing the development of Science of Reading-aligned chapter books and creating supplementary educator guides. Previous experience includes an Erdkinder Humanities Guide at Elm City Montessori School, focusing on creating and teaching differentiated curricula for 7th and 8th graders. At the NYC Department of Education, Shira held various roles including Humanities Teacher and Literacy Coordinator, contributing to grant writing, curriculum design, and literacy interventions. Additional experience spans teaching roles at Horace Mann School, developing health education curriculum, and service-learning projects with Metropolitan Family Service. Shira Engel holds a Master of Arts in Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University.
