Jordi Varela Agrelo

Jordi Varela Agrelo is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in machine learning, IT management, and data infrastructure. Currently serving as a Machine Learning Engineer at Strands since May 2020, Jordi supports custom deployments of the Data Science stack and enhances ML algorithms for on-prem customers. Jordi's previous roles include Global Head of IT at Glovo, where an IT department was established amid rapid growth, and DevOps & IT Manager positions at both The American School of Barcelona and Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya—both of which involved building IT departments from the ground up. Additional experience includes teaching Python at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and contributions to data science infrastructure at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Jordi holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master’s in Big Data Management, further solidifying expertise in the field.
