Leah Squires has held a variety of roles since 2010. From 2010-2011, they were a Volunteer Project Coordinator at the Corporation for National and Community Service, where they developed, coordinated, and organized community service projects and held local press conferences to promote interest in community enhancement. This experience allowed their to develop excellent working relationships with community leaders and members of the public. From 2011-2012, they were a Community Planner at City of Mount Hope, WV, where they helped with design and beautification projects for the former coal mining town in Southern West Virginia and contacted neglectful landlords to encourage and enforce them to bring their properties up to code using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). From 2012-2017, they were a Content Administrator at HuffPost, where they initiated strategies to enhance visibility and access to one of the most popular online news source in North America, tactfully moderated political and social discussions, and made fast paced decisions on quality and relevance to content. From 2017-2018, they were Self-Employed as a Freelance Editor. Since 2018, they have been a Project Manager/Senior Training Analyst and Virtual Event Producer at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Leah Squires obtained a Master's degree in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from The New School in 2010. Prior to that they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English and International Studies from West Virginia University Eberly College of Arts & Sciences in 2006. In 2021, they obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Leah is also a Kirkpatrick Certified Professional.
