Paulo Carvalho

Paulo Carvalho has over 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and finance industries. Paulo is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Strategikon Pharma, a pharmaceutical company that specializes in developing innovative treatments for rare and neglected diseases.

Previously, Paulo served as the Director of Finance for Hovione from August 2006 to August 2012. In this role, they were responsible for leading FP&A activities for R&D and Commercial Operations for two global Business Units. Paulo also managed the BU full reporting and budgeting control package, including P&L analytics, functional and product level profitability analyses. Additionally, Paulo managed the Finance, HR, and Administrative functions for U.S. operations.

Before joining Hovione, Paulo served as the Assistant Treasurer for Cimpor from November 2005 to August 2006. In this role, they were responsible for managing the treasury function for a global company with operations in over 30 countries.

After leaving Hovione, Paulo worked as an independent consultant for PJC Consulting from September 2012 to April 2016. In this role, they provided financial and strategic consulting services to a variety of clients in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Most recently, Paulo has been working as a Portfolio Manager for ZI Investments since May 2001. In this role, they are responsible for managing a portfolio of investments in the healthcare sector.

Paulo Carvalho has a Master's Degree in Finance and Investments from the Wisconsin School of Business, an MBA in Finance from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and a BSc in Decision Systems Engineering from the Managemet and Technology Institute (COCITE).
