Deborah Smallwood

Deborah Smallwood has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry. Deborah began their career in 1978 as the AVP of Application Development (Commercial Lines) at Liberty Mutual Group. In 1997, they were promoted to Partner at KPMG LLP, where they were responsible for local P&L, business development, delivery, account and client management, with a focus on financial services, healthcare and manufacturing. Deborah also partnered with audit teams to conduct full scale IT audits, generating $1M+/year in incremental revenue. In 2002, Deborah joined TowerGroup as the VP of Insurance Research & Advisory Services, where they created a new hybrid service between research and consulting and more than doubled revenue in one year. In 2007, Deborah launched and managed a strategic advisory business, Strategy Meets Action, and also held the Chief Transformation Officer (CIO) position at ICW Group for 15 months. At Strategy Meets Action, Deborah provides strategic advice to over 100 clients annually, advising insurers on leveraging various technologies for high business value, conducting assessments on capabilities, and risk assessments for large-scale technology projects. Deborah also produces thought leadership/research connecting business strategies to emerging technologies.

Deborah Smallwood received their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore School of Business and Economics.
