Justin Sommer

Justin Sommer serves as a Senior Regulatory Advisor at Strathcona Resources Ltd. since April 2022 and has been a Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist at Merk Pipeline Integrity Ltd. since October 2014. Previously, Justin held positions such as Lead, Regulatory (Oil & Gas) at WSP in Canada and Regulatory Specialist at Pengrowth Energy Corporation. Early experience includes a role as Regulatory Coordinator at Penn West Exploration, and work in Facilities Applications at the Energy Resources Conservation Board. Justin specializes in pipeline and facility licensing, focusing on the Oil and Gas Conservation Act (OGCA) and Directive 056, with a background in reviewing well, pipeline, and facility applications. Justin earned a degree in Petroleum Land, Oil & Gas from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology between 2006 and 2008.
