Thomas J. Margetta

Thomas J. Margetta has a diverse work experience in the field of public safety and communication. In 1994, they began their career as a 911 Dispatch/Supervisor at the Boca Raton Police/Fire/911 department. Thomas J. later took on the role of FCC Rebanding Radio Project Manager from 2007 to 2010.

In 2010, Margetta moved on to become the 911 Communications Manager at the Boca Raton Police Department, a position they held until 2013. During this time, they also worked as a Public Safety Technology Specialist at SEARCH Group, Incorporated from 2013 to 2017.

In 2012, Margetta founded the 911 Dispatch Academy at Palm Beach State College, where they served as the Lead Instructor until 2018. Thomas J. also founded and hosted the South Florida Mini-C Conferences during their time at the college.

From 2013 to 2014, Margetta worked as the Director of Public Safety at Stadson Technology Corporation and later became a 911 Dispatcher at the Atlantis Police Department from 2014 to 2015.

In 2013, they joined the Lantana Police Department as a 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator and remained in this role until 2021.

Margetta then joined STRAX Intelligence Group in 2013, initially as a Public Safety Business Solutions Manager until 2017, and later as the Director of Client Services and Project Management.

Finally, Margetta founded APA GLOBAL, LLC dba 911DispatchAcademy.com in 2012, where they provide professional 911 consulting, training, and education services.

Thomas J. Margetta completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1990 to 1994. Prior to that, they attended South Milwaukee Senior High School from 1987 to 1990. In terms of additional certifications, Thomas obtained a certification in 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator from the Florida Department of Health in February 2019. Thomas J. also obtained the Emergency Number Professional (ENP) certification from NENA: The 9-1-1 Association in August 2018.
