Gerald Tsai is the Co-Head of Product & Regulatory Legal at Stripe. Gerald has over fifteen years of experience in central banking and regulatory policy.

Tsai began their career at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2005. Gerald held various positions over the years, including Director of Fintech, Applications, Enforcement, Outreach & Country Analysis. In this role, they were responsible for review and action on financial services licensing and authorization filings related to M&A, holding company formations, and new entrants under the Federal Reserve Act, Federal Deposit Insurance Act, and BHC Act. Gerald also engaged industry and monitored markets to understand risks and opportunities in digital innovation, and advised examiners on fintech, including AML and payments fraud.

In 2013, Tsai transitioned to a position in Enforcement, where they initiated and terminated supervisory actions for banks in unsatisfactory financial and managerial condition, or poor regulatory compliance. Gerald led the Outreach and Country Analysis Teams in 2019.

Tsai has a deep understanding of the financial services industry and the ever-changing landscape of regulations. Gerald is an expert in their field and a respected leader within the Stripe organization.

Gerald Tsai attended Boston University School of Law, where they earned their Doctor of Law degree. Their concentration was in financial services. Prior to that, they earned their BA in Theirtory from The Johns Hopkins University. Gerald is also certified by the State Bar of California.
