Jason Webster has a diverse work history, beginning with an internship at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 2012. Jason then interned at the National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NITheP) in 2015, where they studied a long-range highly constrained spin model and published a paper. In 2016, Jason was a tutor at the University of the Witwatersrand and a research collaborator at the University of Oregon, where they developed new methods of generating electron vortex beams and trained to operate a transmission electron microscope. Jason then became a laboratory assistant at Stellenbosch University in 2017, where they mathematically modelled atomic quadrupole transitions via light possessing orbital angular momentum and received top honours and the S2A3 medal for the best Master's thesis in the faculty of science. In 2019, Jason was a data scientist and course facilitator at Explore Data Science Academy, where they provided AWS sysadmin services and facilitated courses for 100 data science students in Johannesburg. In 2020, they worked as a data scientist at Percept, where they provided mathematical analysis to a variety of business and governmental problems and built and maintained full-stack web products and dashboards for internal and client use. Finally, in 2021, Jason worked at Kandua as a Technical Lead, Pricing and Distribution Lead, and Full Stack Engineer. In 2022, they will become a Founding Engineer at Strive Math (YC S21).
Jason Webster began their education in 2013 at the University of the Witwatersrand, where they earned a Bachelor of Science - BSc in Physics & Applied Mathematics in 2015. Jason then returned to the University of the Witwatersrand in 2015 to pursue a Bachelor of Science - BSc (Hons) in Physics, which they completed in 2016. In 2016, they moved to Stellenbosch University to pursue a Masters in Physics, which they completed in 2018.
