Tammy I. Barlet has a diverse range of work experience in government affairs and policy-related roles. Tammy I. is currently serving as the Vice President of Government Affairs at Student Veterans of America. Prior to that, they worked at Veterans of Foreign Wars as the Deputy Legislative Director and then as the Associate Director of National Legislative Services, Healthcare Policy Portfolio. Tammy I. also worked as a Health Policy Coordinator at The American Legion. Tammy has been involved in various fellowships, including as a Veterans in Global Leadership Fellow and as a Veterans of Foreign War & Student Veterans of America Legislation Fellow. Tammy I. gained experience in healthcare policy as a State Policy Intern at HIMSS. Tammy I. also served as a Policy Associate Fellow at The Mission Continues and as a Vaccine Campaign Aide at Temple University College of Public Health. Tammy's early experience includes an internship at the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health, where they worked on healthcare associated infection control and mapping.

Tammy I. Barlet completed a Certificate program in Veteran Program for Politics and Civic Engagement - Idealation at Syracuse University - Maxwell School in 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Public Health degree with a specialization in Health Policy Analysis from The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health in 2019. Tammy I. also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from Temple University, which they completed in 2017.

In addition to their academic degrees, Tammy has obtained several certifications. In May 2021, they received the Public Health Alumni Award from Temple University College of Public Health. In December 2016, they obtained the Health Care Provider CPR & AED certification from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute. In May 2016, they achieved the Duolingo French Fluency: Beginner (Estimated) certification through Duolingo. Finally, in February 2005, they became a National Certified Pharmacy Technician certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
