Michael Cowley

Michael Cowley has extensive experience in media and communications roles. Michael started their career in the United States Air Force as a Broadcaster and later became the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Video & Broadcasting. In this role, they oversaw video support for various military units and provided content to both local and national media outlets.

After their time in the Air Force, Cowley joined the Air Force Recruiting Service HQ as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Strategic Marketing Video Production & Broadcasting. Here, they coordinated advertising campaigns, wrote and directed web, radio, and television content, and assembled crews for productions.

Cowley then moved on to Defense Media Activity, where they served as the Station Manager. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing a team of broadcasters and communications experts who produced TV, radio, and social media content. Michael also ensured that the American Forces Network TV and radio content was provided to multiple locations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

At The Joint Staff, Cowley served as the Public Affairs Advisor to the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this capacity, they provided daily public affairs advice and support, planned media coverage, wrote speeches and testimony, and managed social media and photography/videography.

Cowley then joined StudioNow as a freelance creative, where they worked in various expert roles on medium to large-scale productions, from technical to management. Michael had the ability to assemble teams and production equipment to match any project's scale.

Currently, Cowley is back at Defense Media Activity as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Pentagon Bureau. In this position, they manage a team of military and civilian personnel who support high-level Department of Defense leaders. The team produces, edits, distributes, and manages content for online outlets, reaching millions of people around the world.

Throughout their career, Cowley has demonstrated a strong background in media production, management, and strategic communication.

Michael Cowley attended San Antonio College from 2005 to 2006, where they studied Photojournalism. Michael then went on to study Photojournalism at the University of South Carolina Sumter from 2007 to 2008. No degree information was provided for either institution.
