John J. Corrado is President and CEO of Suffolk Transportation Service, Incorporated. Throughout his career, John has demonstrated extraordinary leadership, performance, and vision, while continuing his family’s longstanding commitment to safety, service, and community outreach
Today, with a workforce of over 2,800 employees, Suffolk Transportation is the largest bus company in Suffolk County, serving over 50,000 school children and 10,000 public transit passengers each day. Prior to joining his father’s bus company in 1988, John worked for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells as a CPA. He became president of Suffolk Transportation Service in 1996 when his father retired and has since served the company and community with exceptional distinction.
As a result of John’s commitment to maximum safety, he has played an integral role in formulating the safety standards that govern the bus industry today through his affiliation with the New York School Bus Contractors Association (NYSBCA) and the Bus Association of New York (BANY).
With safety always a top priority, STS has earned a perfect score for each of the last 5 years on annual independent safety inspections. Under John’s leadership, STS has received countless safety awards from high-profile groups such as the New York Public Transportation Safety Board, NYSBCA, New York Association for Pupil Transportation and the National School Transportation Association.
Throughout his tenure as CEO, John’s commitment to social responsibility and community involvement have been cornerstones of the culture at STS. He has served on the boards of many organizations and charities including: SUNY Stony Brook Council, Long Island United Way, NYC COP-SHOT, Suffolk County Workforce Investment Board, Suffolk County Parks Foundation, Make It Count Foundation, Astoria Federal Savings Bank, The Children’s Commission of Islip, the Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce, School to Business Partnerships for East Islip and Islip school districts, and the Suffolk County PAL youth lacrosse and youth football programs.
John has been honored by numerous organizations including: Child Abuse Prevention Services, SCOPE, the Urban League of Long Island, the AMVETS, the Martin Luther King Foundation, the Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce, East Islip “For the Kids” Foundation, Hauppauge School Foundation, Long Island United Way, Pronto of Long Island, Central Islip Civic Council, Child Care Council of Suffolk, LI Federation of Labor, North Shore LI Jewish Southside Hospital, I AM CI Foundation, the Central Islip Board of Education, and many others.
John holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan.
