Janet Clark Smith has a vast and diverse work experience in the field of human resources. Janet Clark started their career as a VP of Human Resources at J.P. Morgan in 1981 and worked there until 1994. After that, they joined CIT as a Vice President - International Human Resources, where they handled expatriate administration and served as a corporate liaison for international offices. In 2001, they joined Organon Int'l (now Merck) as a Vice President Global Human Resources, where they were responsible for strategic planning, executive management, and the start-up of the HR department. In 2007, they worked as the Director of Human Resources at Ward & Olivo, where they established new policies and procedures as well as an employee handbook. Since 2009, they have been working at Summit Area YMCA as the VP of Human Resources, focusing on employee relations, compensation, recruitment, policies and procedures, employee training and development, and volunteer management. Janet Clark has also led city-wide projects and managed the administration of the Summit community garden.

Janet Clark Smith has an MBA in Finance from Pace University - Lubin School of Business. Janet Clark also holds a BA degree in French and Art from Valparaiso University.
