Laura Valdes has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Laura began their career in 1988 as a Senior Microbiologist at AMSCO Scientific. In 1991, they moved to Applied Analytical Industries (AAIPharma) as the Microbiology Technical Director, where they advised pharmaceutical companies on regulatory requirements and testing requirements for marketed products, research samples and clinical trial materials. From 1998 to 2000, they were the Microbiology Technical Services Director at Elite MicroSource Corporation, where they consulted in QC and QA and created corporate training seminars. In 2000, they took on an adjunct professor role at Gulf Coast Community College, teaching an introductory course in microbiology to respiratory care technicians. From 2005 to 2008, they were a Quality Assurance Compliance Reviewer at Wyeth Vaccines, where they reviewed and approved vaccine manufacturing equipment IQ and OQ protocols, deviations, calibrations and work orders. From 2006 to 2010, they were a Project Manager and Consultant at PharmaDirections, Inc, managing method qualifications, in-process testing, release testing and stability studies in support of clinical trials. From 2010 to 2014, they were a Senior Compliance Consultant at ProPharma Group, functioning as an investigator for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, medical devices, environmental monitoring and microbiology testing. Finally, from 2014 to the present, they have been the Quality Control Microbiology Manager at Summit Biosciences Inc., where they oversee the operation of the pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory and provides Microbiology support for internal and client products.

Laura Valdes received their BS in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in 1982 and their MS in Microbiology from North Carolina State University in 1986.
