Sylke Hoehnel

Founder, CEO And Board Member at SUN bioscience

Sylke Hoehnel began their career in 2009 as a Master project student at EPFL. In 2010, they became a PhD student at the same institution. In 2011, they participated in a Summer Research Program at The University of Tokyo. In 2015, they were a Project Manager and Entrepreneur at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). That same year, they were also a Participant in the European Venture Programme. In 2016, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of SUN bioscience, where they are enabling personalized medicine through patient-specific organoids cultured on SUN’s proprietary high-throughput 3D microwell platform.

Sylke Hoehnel obtained a BSc in Biotechnology from ETH Zürich in 2004-2008, followed by an MSc in Biotechnology from ETH Zürich in 2008-2010. Sylke then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 2010-2015.
