Kevin Smolar has extensive work experience in the beer industry. Kevin started their career at Sun King Brewery & Spirits in 2014 and currently holds the position of Director of Operations. Prior to this role, they served as the Quality Manager, responsible for managing the QA/QC lab, running tests for microbiological activity and analyzing beer using various techniques. Kevin also conducted sensory training classes for employees. Before joining Sun King Brewery, Kevin worked as a Math/Science Tutor at The Learning Place from 2011 to 2013, specializing in mathematics, chemistry, biology, and Spanish.
Kevin Smolar earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Indiana University Bloomington in the years 2006 to 2010. Kevin then pursued a Master's Degree in Biology, General from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, completing it in the years 2010 to 2011. Kevin furthered their education with a Master's Degree in Forensic and Investigative Sciences from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, which they obtained between 2012 and 2014.

Sun King Brewing Company is an Independently owned Indiana Brewery. Conceived by two professional brewers, Dave Colt and Clay Robinson, and started with the help of family and friends, Sun King rolled out their first keg of beer in July of 2009. Over the years, Sun King has grown to become one of Indiana’s best-selling and most award-winning breweries.
