Cynthia Michener

Cynthia Michener is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in both corporate and consulting roles. As the AVP and Head of Communications at Sun Life since 2017, Cynthia oversees an integrated approach to internal and external communications, providing counsel on public policy and branding strategies. Prior to this, Cynthia offered communications consulting services, developing visibility plans and media relations strategies for organizations such as the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety and Valvespring. With a decade-long tenure at Aetna as Senior Director of Enterprise Communications, Cynthia managed media relations for the $60 billion healthcare company and advised executive management on high-profile media appearances. Previous roles at The Hartford Financial Services Group and Texaco involved leading corporate media relations and serving as a spokesperson during critical incidents. Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Castleton University and is currently enrolled in the Business Mastery Certificate Program at the University of Connecticut.
