Sarah J Hughes has extensive work experience in human resources and people operations. Currently, they are the Head of People Operations & Projects at Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland, where they lead a team responsible for supporting the business and delivering an exceptional employee experience. Prior to this role, they worked as a People Consultant at the same company.

Before joining Sunbelt Rentals, Sarah held various senior leadership positions at SGS, an sgsco company. As the Senior VP Human Resources - UK, Europe & International, they developed and implemented the people strategy for approximately 3500 employees. Sarah J also created regional HR teams to support business growth and ensure a consistent approach to people management. Additionally, they served as the Vice President Human Resources and the HR Director - UK & Netherlands at SGS.

Sarah's experience also includes working as an HR Director at Carillion, where they provided HR support to the Corporate & Operational Services division. Prior to that, they worked as a Human Resources Business Consultant at Total Change Management Ltd, where they helped organizations achieve business excellence through effective HR strategies. Sarah J has also held the position of Human Resources Director at Doncasters Group and served in various HR roles at Rolls-Royce, including Senior Human Resources Business Partner and HR Manager - Operations.

Sarah J Hughes, Chartered Fellow of CIPD, holds an MSc in Strategic Human Resource Management from Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, which they obtained from 2000 to 2003. Additionally, they have a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the same institution, completed from 1994 to 1996. Sarah has also obtained various certifications, including Menopause in the Workplace from Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace in 2022, MHFA Lite from Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) Community Interest Company in 2016, ILM Level 7 in Executive Leadership Coaching and Mentoring from The Institute of Leadership & Management in 2010, and the Chartered Fellow designation from CIPD in 2005.
