James Chin

James Chin is an experienced engineering and drilling manager with a career spanning over three decades in the oil and gas sector. Currently serving as the Executive Engineering/Drilling Manager at Suncor since May 2007, James oversees drilling, completion, and workover operations while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. Prior to this role, James was the Engineering Drilling Manager at Canadian Natural Resources from January 1997 to April 2007, where responsibilities included managing the engineering team and implementing best practices in project delivery. Beginning the career as a Senior Production Engineer at Talisman Energy from August 1990 to November 1996, James has cultivated extensive expertise in engineering management. Academically, James holds a PhD in Oil & Gas Engineering Management and a Master of Science in Petroleum & Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, along with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
