Scott Ainsley

Sport Scientist at Sunderland AFC

Scott Ainsley has extensive experience as a sport scientist, currently serving as the 1st Team Physical Performance Coach at Sunderland AFC since January 1998. In this role, Scott has held several positions, including Lead Sport Scientist from 2016 to 2022 and Head of Academy Sport Science from 2013 to 2016. Significant achievements include being part of the team that won the League One Play Off and the EFL Trophy. Additionally, Scott serves as an Academic Tutor at the University of Sunderland since February 2020 and previously worked part-time with The Football Association during the England Blind Squad's European Championships. Scott holds a Master's Degree in Strength and Conditioning from The University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Science from the University of Sunderland.
