Marisa Drew

Marisa Drew is a board member at Sunrise, a position they have held since March 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a field organizer for the Sunrise Movement from July 2019 to March 2020. In this role, they supervised, recruited, and trained fellows, canvassers, and volunteers. Marisa also organized direct actions (sit-ins, direct candidate engagements, banner drops, etc.).

From January 2019 to September 2019, Marisa worked as an organizing lead for Dream Defenders in Alachua County. In this role, they coordinated and assisted on statewide tours for the Green New Deal with Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and author & influencer Naomi Clide. Additionally, they built out membership presence in targeted jurisdictions (Greater Des Moines Metro Area), galvanized volunteers and community members towards policy change, and facilitated and coordinated training with upcoming chapters throughout Iowa.

Before working with Dream Defenders, Marisa was a freedom fellow and community organizer with the organization from April 2018 to July 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a field organizer for Harvey Budd for City Commission from December 2017 to March 2018.
