Vanessa Forsythe

Vanessa Forsythe is the Chief Legal & Administrative Officer of Sunrise Senior Living. Vanessa is responsible for leading the Sunrise Legal Department in the areas of operations, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, employment and labor relations, corporate governance and regulatory matters across the company. She also oversees compliance and internal audit and serves as Corporate Secretary.

Prior to joining Sunrise in 2010, Vanessa was a partner with the law firm of Howrey LLP, where her practice focused on complex commercial and antitrust litigation. She is a former federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable Leonie M. Brinkema, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Virginia, in Alexandria, Virginia.

Vanessa earned her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association, National Capital Chapter, and is a member of the American Bar Association.
