Veronika Ruf

Veronika Ruf has extensive experience in the construction and project management industry. Veronika is currently working as the Vice President of Construction Management at Sunrise Senior Living, where they lead a team of construction managers to build exceptional communities. Their responsibilities include managing multiple projects, ensuring quality and operational standards, and overseeing scope, cost, schedule, and risk management.

Prior to their current role, Veronika worked at Marriott International as the Director of Project Management. Veronika created and led a Project Management team that supported design work across 30 hotel brands. Veronika implemented structured processes and managed a team of three senior professionals.

Veronika also held various positions at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Veronika served as the Director of Architecture & Construction Support Services, where they evaluated managed hotels and proposed comprehensive renovation plans. Veronika also prepared cost estimates for Property Improvement Plans (PIP) and implemented new frameworks and tools for producing PIP documents. As the Director of Architecture & Construction Design Management Services, they managed a team of six Design Managers and overseen all project functions and brand implementations.

Earlier in their career, Veronika worked as a Project Director at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., where they were responsible for managing the development of a luxury beach resort in Mexico. Veronika led the design team, managed budgeting and procurement, and coordinated with various stakeholders.

Veronika's experience also includes working as a Project Manager at Bovis Lend Lease. In this role, they were responsible for the daily management and supervision of construction projects, including communication, coordination, scheduling, and contract administration. Veronika also handled project budgets, bidding, subcontract procedures, and risk management.

Veronika Ruf completed their Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus on Civil/Structural Engineering from Princeton University between 1992 and 1996. Veronika further pursued their education and obtained a Master of Science in Engineering in Construction Management from Northwestern University from 1999 to 2000. Veronika Ruf also holds additional certifications as a Green Belt from Six Sigma and as a LEED Green Associate.
