Satyavolu Papa Rao

Satyavolu Papa Rao is an accomplished professional in the field of materials science and engineering, currently serving as Senior Director of Emerging Technologies and Research at NY CREATES since September 2019, and as Vice President for Research at the University at Albany, SUNY since March 2023. With previous experience as Adjunct Professor at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and Associate VP for Research at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Satyavolu has a strong background in research and technical leadership, including roles as Chief Technology Officer and Director at SEMATECH, and various management positions at IBM. Notable contributions include work on photovoltaics and advanced CMOS technology, along with significant achievements in process technology development during tenure at Texas Instruments. Satyavolu holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and possesses a B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
