Satyen Kumar

Satyen Kumar is an accomplished physicist with extensive experience in academia and research administration. Currently serving as the Associate Vice President for Research, Professor of Physics, and Director of the Ion Beam Laboratory at the University at Albany since July 2016, Satyen Kumar focuses on mentoring faculty and researchers, facilitating extramural funding, and promoting collaborative research initiatives. Prior to this role, Satyen Kumar held various positions at Kent State University, including Professor of Physics and Associate Vice President for Research, where efforts centered on statewide and national research coalitions. Satyen Kumar's experience also encompasses a tenure as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation, a Senior Physicist at Tektronix, and a Research Associate at MIT. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an MS in Physics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and an MSc Honors School in Physics from Panjab University.
