Director Of The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam

April Vasher-Dean has a diverse work experience in the art field spanning over 20 years. April began their career as an Assistant in the Visual Resource Center at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1997. April then moved on to become the Director of the Boyden Gallery at St. Mary's College of Maryland from 2001 to 2002. During this time, they curated multiple exhibitions, coordinated visiting artist lectures, and managed the college's permanent art collection.

In 2002, April joined the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art as the Director. In this role, they oversaw all aspects of the gallery, including the curation of exhibitions, management of the consignment and framing shops, and writing press releases. April also took on the responsibility of managing the university's permanent art collection, including budget planning and display organization.

April's passion for art education led their to work as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Southern Indiana from 2003 to 2008 and SUNY Potsdam from 2008 to 2018. During these roles, they taught art courses and contributed to the academic development of students. April also served as the Director of The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam, providing leadership and overseeing museum operations.

April Vasher-Dean has a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Art History from California State University, Northridge. April also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Art History from the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition, they completed a Prejudice Reduction Workshop for Model Trainers at the National Coalition Building Institute and a Museum Leadership Institute at Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management. April also studied Fundraising for Small Non-Profits at the Indiana University Center of Philanthropy.
