Brian Dunbar

Brian Dunbar has a diverse work experience in the field of music and education. Brian is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Flute at SUNY Potsdam since July 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Lecturer of Flute at Southeastern Louisiana University starting from August 2019. From January 2019 to July 2020, Brian worked as an Adjunct Professor of Woodwinds at Southern University and A&M College- Baton Rouge.

Before their teaching roles, Brian held various positions at Kids' Orchestra, a non-profit organization based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From December 2017 to January 2019, they worked as a Development Officer and was responsible for grant writing and cultivating relationships with corporate and individual donors. Additionally, they served as a Teaching Artist from January 2016 to December 2017 at Kids' Orchestra.

Brian also gained experience as an Adjunct Professor at Southern University and A&M College System from February 2014 to December 2017. Brian worked as an Artistic Associate at Flutistry Boston from January 2016 to April 2017. Furthermore, they taught flute as an instructor at LSU Performing Arts Academy from August 2013 to August 2016.

Prior to their professional teaching career, Brian worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Louisiana State University from August 2015 to May 2016. Brian also served as a Camp Counselor and Performer at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp from June 2008 to July 2011.

Brian Dunbar earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, with a focus in the general field of study, from Stetson University in the period from 2006 to 2010. Brian then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School, from 2010 to 2012. Finally, they completed their education with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Performance and a minor in Music Theory from Louisiana State University between 2013 and 2016.
