Senior Technical Game Designer at Super Evil Megacorp

Mateus Farias has a diverse range of work experience in the game development industry. Mateus started their career as a Localization and Narrative Intern at CatNap games, where they worked on narrative, screenplay, and localization for their debut mobile game. Mateus then joined Interlight Studio as a Writer and Game Designer, where they were responsible for creating the game's vision, story, aesthetics, and overall narrative elements.

After that, Mateus worked as a Human Resources Intern at A3 Consultoria, where they gained experience in staffing, recruitment, and training material development for various national companies. Mateus then took on the role of Unity Developer intern at Dissenter Studio, where they worked on a 2.5D casual brawler game called Dodgeboulder.

Mateus pursued their passion for game development by enrolling in Vancouver Film School (VFS). During their time at VFS, they worked on multiple game projects. Mateus was a Game Programmer for a Summer Hat Jam project, a Gameplay and AI Programmer for Scout's Oath, and a Project Manager for Don't Take Ma Home!

After graduating from VFS, Mateus worked as a Technical Game Designer at Província Studio, where they focused on reworking the design pipeline and implementing various game systems for the 2D beat'em up game, Josh Journey.

Currently, Mateus is working as a Senior Technical Game Designer at Super Evil Megacorp. In this role, they are responsible for implementing abilities, buffs, and level systems for cross-platform action games. Mateus also curates and balances complex systems and provides support to junior and associate designers.

Throughout their career, Mateus has demonstrated their skills in game design, programming, technical writing, project management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Mateus Farias completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Universidade Federal de Goiás from 2013 to 2017. In 2018 and 2019, they pursued a Post-Secondary Diploma with Honors in Game Design at the Vancouver Film School.
