Ian Henderson has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Ian started their career in 1974 as the Founder and Managing Director of Henderson Transport Services Ltd, a road transport company operating articulated trucks in the UK and Europe. In 1986, they became a Transportation Consultant, specializing in humanitarian logistics, working with various organizations in Africa. Ian also held multiple roles with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) between 1989 and 1993, including Senior Logistics Officer and Logistics Manager.
In 1994, Ian founded ASSIST Logistics Ltd, which provided emergency logistics support to the humanitarian sector. Ian also worked as a Logistics Operations Manager for Worldvision International in 1999 and as a Project Manager for the UN World Food Programme from 2000 to 2004.
Ian's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Henderson Properties Ltd in 1995, a commercial property development and letting business in Scotland. Ian currently serves as the Managing Director of Embiance Kenya Ltd, a position they took on in 2020. Additionally, they are the Founder and Managing Director of Superior Homes (Kenya) Ltd, a leading real estate development company based in Nairobi.
Throughout their career, Ian has demonstrated expertise in logistics and project management, particularly in the humanitarian and real estate sectors. Their work experience includes overseeing large-scale projects, managing diverse teams, and providing advisory services.
Ian Henderson earned a credit in Third World Studies from The Open University in 1987-1988. Prior to that, they attended Paisley College of Technology from 1970-1971. Their education started at Paisley Grammar from 1957-1969.
