Alex Nicholls has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. They started their career as a Retail Consultant at the National Trust, where they focused on customer communication, stock management, and visual merchandising.

After that, Alex joined Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. as a PhD Collaboration researcher, collaborating with the R&D team and presenting their work regularly. They then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Organic Chemistry at Durham University, where they worked closely with commercial partners to develop new routes and methods in the field. During their time at the university, Alex also served as a Laboratory Demonstrator, teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.

Following their academic pursuits, Alex joined Domainex, initially as a Medicinal Chemist (Associate Scientist), involved in diverse projects ranging from synthesis and prodrug design to presenting their research results to clients. They eventually transitioned to the role of Senior Scientist II (Medicinal Chemist), where they took on more challenging and complex tasks, including the generation and isolation of unstable intermediates.

Most recently, Alex joined The Supplant Company as a Senior Scientist: New Products Innovation, where they work in a multi-disciplinary team to support and protect new innovations using the company's sugars and flours from fiber. They manage the company's existing patent portfolio, conduct practical work across different disciplines, and collaborate with external patent attorneys.

Overall, Alex Nicholls has a broad range of experience in scientific research, project management, teaching, and customer service.

Alex Nicholls obtained a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Durham University, attending from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, between 2010 and 2012, they attended Hills Road Sixth Form without pursuing a specific degree or field of study.
