Tom Nicholson has a diverse work experience in the fields of biotech, healthcare innovation, and business development.

Starting in 2015, they worked as a Clinical Technician at Biopharmaceutics Research Institute, where they facilitated research protocols and performed bioequivalence studies.

In 2017, Tom had two internships. Tom joined Congenica as a Business Development Intern, where they worked under the VP of Business Development and CEO to identify alternative revenue streams. Tom also worked as a Business Development Intern at Springboard Pro Ltd, conducting market analysis and contributing to the assessment for the Cambridge University Judge Business School.

From 2017 to 2018, Tom worked as a Consultant at PRECISIONadvisors, a commercialization strategy consultancy. Tom supported projects for Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Shire, and Alexion, conducting research and developing economic models.

In 2016, Tom worked as a Consultant at Innovation Forum, an accelerator for science-based ventures. Tom sourced start-ups, built a team, and organized events to bring together academia, entrepreneurs, and industry.

From 2018 to 2019, Tom co-founded and led Health Horizons, a conference focused on the future of health and food. Tom successfully attracted attendees and speakers and developed strategic partnerships with blue-chip pharma companies.

Currently, Tom serves as the Chief of Staff at The Supplant Company, an innovative biotech start-up. In this role, they are responsible for various aspects such as strategy, operations, fundraising, PR, clinical and regulation, labeling, claims, and supply chain management.

Tom Nicholson has a diverse education history spanning various institutions and fields of study. Tom holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Bioscience Enterprise (MBE) from the University of Cambridge. Additionally, they studied Management of Technology and Innovation (MOTI) at the Cambridge Judge Business School.

Before their time at Cambridge, Tom pursued their academic interests at Rhodes University, where they completed a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology. Tom also obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree (B.Sc.H) from the same institution, with a focus on Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Biotechnology.

Tom's education journey began at Carter High, where they obtained a National Senior Certificate (NSC). Tom'scoursework at the high school level encompassed Life Science, Physical Science, Business Studies, Mathematics, English, and Afrikaans.

In addition to their formal education, Tom has also acquired extra certifications. Tom completed the "Venture Deals" program offered by Kauffman Fellows & TechStars in April 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a certification in "Harvard CS50: Introduction to Computer Science" from Harvard University in June 2018.
